Challenges for companies and organisations with GDPR in force

Right of access

GDPR stipulates that data subjects (individuals) have the right to access their personal data processed by an organisation.

To provide access to data, an organisation must first identify everywhere the data resides. Metadata enables organisations to locate the data they need.

Right to be forgotten

The GDPR states that data subjects have the right to demand from their organisation that their personal information be deleted or forgotten.

This might seem simple enough, but personal information is stored in many different places, MetaClean can help your organisation control their personal data by allowing them to easily view, download or delete their personal data.

Data portability

Data subjects should also be able to receive their personal information from one organisation and transfer it to another organisation.

In order for an organisation to deliver this information, it must first map and locate each location of the data, which can only be done through metadata.

Privacy by design

The GDPR requires the inclusion of data protection from the start of system design.

Through metadata, organisations can identify sensitive data elements and therefore understand which data requires protection.

Notification of non-compliance

GDPR requires organisations to inform data subjects within 72 hours of discovering a potential breach.

Metadata, e.g. name, email or date of document creation, helps organisations determine when and how a hack occurred.
